What Price Fame?

Richard Heene, father of the little “balloon boy” who captured national attention last week, continues to maintain that allegations that this was a hoax are “extremely pathetic.” Doubts began after little Falcon Heene responded “you said we did this for a show” to his parents in response to a question posed to him on a CNN interview. From the mouths of babes…

The familyalready has a reputation for seeking media attention and has appeared previously on Wife Swap.

The Heene’s have certainly achieved the fame they’ve long hoped for, but at what price? Whether or not this was a hoax, will the attention help or hurt the Heenes’ interest in promoting themselves?

Some say that even “bad press” can be a good thing. In this case, if the investigation into this issue determines that no hoax was involved, that may well be the case. If not, this may turn out to be a very expensive PR prank.

Prank or not? What do you think?
